Description

19th-century French rosewood jewellery box. This beautiful jewellery box features floral engraved brass banding around the edges of the box and engraved rope banding as interior decorative borders on the top and front. Intricately engraved brass handles are also set flush on either side of the box. A brass plate on the top of the box features engraved initials and there is a brass escutcheon key hole, with the key intact. The interior of the box is lined in blue silk, quilted and banded to the top and bottom. (One side of the silk lining is torn). The box is engraved ‘Coignard, 16 Rue Chapon, Paris’ on the brass band inside the lid, c. 1860
