This early Australian cedar chiffonier features a huon pine panel back and doors. The chiffonier boasts a simple back piece with scrolling decoration and a display shelf, with finely-turned supports. The long central drawer is fitted with the later addition of five cutlery partitions and one large section. The drawer sits above a pair of panelled doors and is on raised feet, the front two of which feature decorative additions. This piece dates to c. 1840.
Interior design note: As an early Australian antique, this would make the perfect addition to the dining room of a country style homestead or miner’s cottage.
- This piece is a marriage, meaning the back is not the original.
