This 19th-century English burr walnut single door pier cabinet, features figured ormolu mounts. The interior is lined with cream waterfall silk, with two shelves. The glass door and glass to each side makes for a beautifully bright cabinet for the display of decorator items. Pier cabinets originated in Victorian England. They were designed to sit in the masonry piers between windows and to have a pier mirror mounted above, with the aim to reflect the light and brighten the room. This superb antique piece dates to c. 1870.
